Reconstructing the Evolution and Geographic Spread of Early Domestic Dogs

Sarah Brown's doctoral research, in collaboration with Niels Pedersen and Ben Sacks, combines ecological, behavioral, archaeological, and genomic information and approaches to attempt to move beyond some of the current ambiguities in our understanding of the evolutionary history of domestic dogs. An especially exciting component of this research is its emphasis on the use of genetic material from indigenous dog populations, which have not previously been well represented in evolutionary genetic studies.
